The official report of the CCP stated that Tang Shuangning took advantage of his power to promote his personal calligraphy and other works, brought books and periodicals with serious political issues into the country without permission and read them; illegally approved the purchase of buildings and halls, occupied unit housing; illegally accepted gifts and gifts such as celebrity calligraphy and paintings, commemorative coins, etc. Gift money; engage in “elegant corruption”, illegally occupy public property, seek benefits for others in loan approval, job promotion, etc., and illegally accept huge amounts of property.
Tang Shuangning, 69, served as vice chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission in 2003 and as chairman and party secretary of Everbright Group in 2007. After retiring in December 2017, Li Xiaopeng took over as chairman of Everbright Group. In April 2023, Li Xiaopeng was investigated.
On July 15, 2023, Tang Shuangning was dismissed. Lu media previously reported that Tang Shuangning and his wife, who had been retired for more than five years, were taken away from their home on July 12 last year.
Reports indicate that two weeks before Tang Shuangning was arrested, Liu Ying, the former deputy general manager of China Everbright Bank’s credit card center, was detained because several Shandong-area loans he made while serving as president of China Everbright Bank’s Qingdao branch many years ago were suspected of violating regulations, resulting in huge losses. . Insiders analyzed that the case may be related to the arrangements of Tang Shuangning, the group leader at the time, “I am afraid it was the direct trigger of his investigation this time.”
After Tang Shuangning retired, he mainly engaged in cultural research and artistic creation. The report mentioned that the reason why he was demoted to the deputy department level after his retirement may have something to do with “elegant bribery” in personal calligraphy and painting transactions.
In recent years, many senior executives of Everbright Group have been investigated.
In addition to Li Xiaopeng and Tang Shuangning, Xue Feng, the former chairman of Everbright Securities, Zhang Huayu, the former vice president of Everbright Bank, Zhu Huimin, the former chairman of Everbright Industrial, Zhou Jiangtao, the former president of Everbright Bank Nanning Branch, Su Shude, the former president of Everbright Bank Nanning Branch, and Everbright Bank Chief business director Zhang Bo and former CEO of China Everbright Holdings Chen Shuang were dismissed one after another.
