Tamra Smith won CCI4 * -L in Virginia –

A CCI4 * -L event tournament was held in Virginia from October 5-9. Tamra Smith won, followed by William Coleman and Mia Farley (all for the US).

After receiving just 29.3 penalty points in dressage, Tamra Smith and her 11-year-old mare Solaguayre California made it through the cross-country sections and only slightly overtime (0.4 points). Tamra Smith entered the show jumping course with 29.7 points after dressage and cross-country and came out again without error. In doing so, she secured victory in the long test of events at the four-star level. It is not the couple’s first major success. In July, the two placed z. B. second place in the CCI4 * -S of Kalispell (USA) with a total of 34.7 points.

At their heels were William Coleman and his gelding Holsteiner Chin Tonic after dressage with 29.4 points, which by the way is not related to the eponymous crack of Julia Krajewski’s young Busch. After the timing errors in cross-country (2.8) and jumping (0.4), Coleman’s gap to the winner increased again, with a total of 32.6 points was still enough for second place. The fact that the ten-year-old gelding can also win was demonstrated in April at Aiken SC in the CCI4 * -S and recently in the CCI3 * -S, which he and his driver William Coleman won with just 18.5 points.

Third place for Mia Farley with Phelps. Phelps is a nine-year-old gelding who has been riding since 2019. The team was particularly successful last year, also finishing third in the CCI3 * -S at Unionville PA and Allentown NJ. Her total score of 34.4 points was already clear after dressage, as she remained free in cross-country and jumping in terms of time and hurdles. Additionally, Farley and Phelps showed a perfect cross country lap with no jumps and timing errors.
