Tampa Bay got revenge on Wednesday night at the Colorado Avalanche for losing the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals.

The Tampa Bay Lightning also won the second replay of last season’s Stanley Cup Finals. The Florida team defeated defending National Hockey League (NHL) champions Colorado Avalanche 4-3 away in a penalty shootout on Tuesday. Tampa star Steven Stamkos scored the only hit in the shootout. Last week, last year’s defeated finalist beat the champions 5-0 at home.

Tampa is second in the Atlantic Division to the Boston Bruins with 72 points from 53 games. Colorado, third in the Central Division, has to fight for the playoffs in the NHL west. The team from Denver won the final series of the previous season with 4:2. It was the third NHL title in club history for the Avalanche after 1996 and 2001.

One day after his gala performance against the Calgary Flames, German national ice hockey player Tim Stützle shone again in the NHL. On Tuesday, the 21-year-old forward was involved in his Ottawa Senators’ 3-2 (0-0, 1-1, 1-1) away win after a shoot-out against the New York Islanders with one goal and one assist.

Stützle scored at the end of the second period to equalize 1:1 and prepared the 2:1 lead at the beginning of the third round. This means that Stützle has 24 goals after 49 season appearances. And the native of Viersen was also successful in penalty shooting. Despite their 26th win of the season, the Senators are nowhere near a playoff spot.
