Defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning drew 2-1 against the New York Rangers in the NHL’s Eastern Conference Finals. In the third game of the Best of Seven series, the ice hockey team drew 3-2 in front of their home crowd in Florida on Sunday. A team needs four wins to advance to the Stanley Cup finals.
The title holders of the past two years were already 2-0 down in the second period, but still turned the game around and scored the acclaimed 3-2 winner through Ondrej Palat 42 seconds before the end. The fourth duel in the series will take place again in Tampa on Tuesday evening (local time).
The Rangers last played for the Stanley Cup in 2014. 20 years ago they won the title for the last time. In the Finals series, the Eastern Conference winner will face either the Colorado Avalanche or the Edmonton Oilers. Colorado leads 3-0 in the Western Conference Finals.
