Tampa Bay Lightning Re-Signs Cole Koepke to One-Year Contract
The Tampa Bay Lightning has announced the re-signing of left wing Cole Koepke to a one-year, two-way contract. The agreement was finalized on Wednesday.
Koepke Avoids Restricted Free Agency
Cole Koepke, who was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1, will continue his career with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The team secured his services for another season by extending his contract.
A Promising Rookie Season
During his rookie year with the Lightning, the 25-year-old from Two Harbors, Minn., demonstrated his potential by scoring his first NHL goal on Nov. 13 against the Washington Capitals. Although it was his only point in 17 games played, Koepke showcased his skills and determination.
Impressive Performance in the AHL
In addition to his NHL appearances, Koepke had an impressive run in the American Hockey League (AHL). Playing for the Syracuse Crunch, he accumulated 19 points, including seven goals and 12 assists, in 52 games.
A Late-Round Draft Pick
Cole Koepke’s journey with the Lightning began when he was selected in the sixth round, 183rd overall, during the 2018 NHL Draft. Since then, he has worked hard to establish himself as a valuable asset to the team.
