Korean cosmetics brand “TAMBURINS” and eyewear brand “GENTLE MONSTER” opened their first Japanese flagship stores in Aoyama, Tokyo on March 14th. On that day, around 100 to 200 people formed a line from the morning, and for safety reasons, the opening had to be moved up 40 minutes. The waiting lines for both brands were separated, with the line for Tambourines reaching up to 300 people and the line for Gentle Monster reaching up to 100 people, demonstrating the high level of attention they received. As of 10 p.m. the day before the store opened, there were already about five people in line.
“Tambourines” has a long line two hours before it opens.
The line for Tambourines ended around 11:30.

Regarding the situation on Tambourine’s opening day, a PR representative commented, “About 200 people were already lining up before the store opened, and at the peak around 11:45, there were 300 people in line.” “I came to the store this time because I wanted egg perfume and its novelty items,” said one woman, “I’ve been standing in line for four hours now,” with a tired look on her face. A woman living in Saitama who finished her purchase said, “I lined up at 10:30 and was able to purchase around 3:30.”I’ve always liked Tambourines, and I’ve been to the Korean flagship store several times. “I knew it would be a hot topic as it was coming to Tokyo for the first time, but I never expected that there would be so many lines…” he said with a surprised look on his face.
As of 4 p.m., none of the items are sold out, and the novelty special pearl case of “Egg Perfume,” an egg-shaped fragrance that became a hot topic after being worn by BLACKPINK’s Jennie, is still available. In addition to “Egg Perfume,” many people were seen purchasing products such as “Perfume Shell Hand Cream” and the standard fragrance collection.
The waiting time for “Gentle Monster” is 2 to 3 hours.

The waiting time for Gentle Monster was two to three hours, and two men left the line and said, “The line was too long, so I gave up.I live nearby in Tokyo, so I’d like to come back later.” After finishing his purchase, the man said, “I waited in line for about two hours and it took an hour to check out.I bought five pieces of eyewear from the ‘Bold Collection’ and ‘Gentle Jelly Collection,’ and I’m glad I was able to buy the products I was looking for. “Since it’s our first flagship store in Tokyo, we expected it to be this crowded,” he said with a smile.
This is the world’s first attempt to sell both Tambourines and Gentle Monster brands together. It is a two-story street-level store, with the first floor displaying products and artwork like a showroom to introduce the brand’s worldview. Purchase items can be ordered and paid at the counter on the second floor. “Gentle Monster” also sells a collaboration eyewear collection with “MAISON MARGIELA” that was released on the 7th. Tambourines, the first store in Japan, carries a wide range of items including representative items such as Perfume Shell Hand Cream, Egg Lip Balm, and Perfume Balm, as well as body care and candles.
