Information provided by the Ministry of Public Security confirmed that the combat occurred at 3:30 p.m. as part of the “Rio Bravo” operation carried out by state officials and that it has been in operation for weeks.
The officers were on surveillance in the Las Flores neighborhood, on the banks of the Rio Grande, the customs office, and while walking on Manuel Peña street they were attacked with bullets by armed civilians.

The deceased was identified as Modesto “R” and showed signs of having been tortured.
On one side of the body was found a drug message in which a criminal group claimed the execution.
The area is being fought by the Northeast Cartel, which seeks to expand its territory from Nuevo Laredo to the south of the state, as well as in the north of Nuevo León towards Tamaulipas, while the Gulf Cartel seeks to counter this advance, since they are areas that it has controlled. .
