Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.- The Government of Tamaulipas launched the Rain Stimulation program on Tuesday, beginning with a flight in the northern part of the state with the purpose of mitigating the effects of the drought, Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya reported. .
In a press conference, the state president explained that this program is carried out after analyzing technical and scientific documents that support this proposal and after carrying out evaluations and work meetings, considering that it is a good option with high rates of effectiveness and efficiency, in addition to which is also an approach of the National Commission for Arid Zones.
“For this Rain Stimulation Program, more than 10 million pesos have been budgeted in its first stage, starting in the northern part of the state to benefit irrigation districts 025 and 026; two of the largest in the country, which cover the municipalities of Mier, Miguel Alemán, Camargo, Díaz Ordaz, Reynosa and Río Bravo”, explained the governor.
He added that with this program, it is intended to cover a polygon of 2 million hectares with six bombardments for the benefit of the crops of the agricultural cycle of sorghum, corn, citrus, vegetables and pastures, for which a Turbo Commander aircraft, owned by of the air services of the State Government, to which the necessary instruments were installed to carry out the aspersions of silver iodide.
“We are very hopeful that this action will help mitigate the effects of the drought, since it is highly effective and to which other efforts such as the drilling of deep wells that are already underway in the central area of the state are added,” he said.
The governor also referred to the various actions carried out in recent days related to the issue of water, such as the Water Expo organized by the State Water Commission, the presentation of the Water Stoplight, the Water Agenda in Tamaulipas, the announcement of the creation of the Secretariat of Hydraulic Resources for Social Development and the meeting with the producers of the seven irrigation districts with whom it was agreed that there will be a 30% increase for the Support Program for Hydro-agricultural Infrastructure, support expected since 23 years ago.
“In that same sense, I inform you that we remain firm in the project to bring water from the Pánuco River to the Vicente Guerrero dam; We are already working on the first engineering stage of this great project and we will continue promoting it”, he expressed.
And he added: “Having a new culture for the vital liquid is everyone’s responsibility and for this reason, with a comprehensive strategy in which the government does its part, we ask society to collaborate so that we can take better care of way the water”.
