Tamaulipas announces bombardment of clouds to attract rain

Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, In order to mitigate the effects of the drought that has been present for several years, the Secretariat of Rural Development in coordination with the National Commission for Arid Zones (CONAZA), in the coming days will launch the Program of Rain Stimulation, for which it allocated a budget of 18 million pesos, meeting the citizen commitment of Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya.

The Secretary of Rural Development, Dámaso Anaya Alvarado said that this strategic program was agreed to begin in the north of the state, to benefit Irrigation Districts 025 and 026, one of the largest in the country, which has an area of ​​65 thousand hectares distributed in the municipalities of Mier, Miguel Alemán, Camargo, Díaz Ordaz, Reynosa and Río Bravo.

The foregoing with the objective of increasing the production of the economic activities of the population and improving their well-being, ensuring the supply of water in the affected human settlements and other activities in the catchment basins of rainwater storage works.

He explained that the Turbo Commander plane that will be used to carry out the spraying for the stimulation of the clouds is ready, a pressure tank has been installed and another that will carry the liquid that contains silver iodide, we are just waiting for the weather conditions to raise the flight and start with the sprays.

Likewise, he announced that it is intended to cover a 2 million-hectare polygon with six bombardments to benefit the crops of the agricultural cycle, where there is a programmed area of ​​650,000 hectares of sorghum, corn, citrus, vegetables and pastures.

Anaya Alvarado indicated that the federal government will allocate the resources for the acquisition of chemicals, while the state government will have the aircraft required to carry out this operation; It is important to mention that the product to be applied is 90 percent effective, which will undoubtedly be of great benefit to the agricultural and livestock sector of Tamaulipas, said the state official.

“The pilots who will fly over the aircraft will receive another training course by SEDENA pilots to be able to start with cloud stimulation,” concluded the head of the Rural Development Secretariat in Tamaulipas.
