The Tamagotchi from 25 years ago was a kind of key ring in the shape of an egg. A digital animal lived on the black-and-white screen of that key ring, and with three buttons the owner could give that animal food and attention. Too long without it, and the Tamagotchi died.
The new Tamagotchi Smart is a modern smartwatch version of the same concept. The three buttons and the square screen are still there, but it is now a color screen. In addition, it is a touchscreen, so that the owner can pet his digital pet. Voice control allows compliments to the Tamagotchi. Of course, the Tamagotchi watch can also show the time.

The Tamagotchi Smart is far from the only new model since the original. Numerous Tamagotchis have appeared in recent years, with functions such as a pedometer and bluetooth. Those things are also on this watch, which would have a battery life of about 30 hours.
The Tamagotchi watch will initially only be available in its home country of Japan on November 23, the Tamagotchi’s birthday. Sale is drawn, whoever wins has to pay 7480 yen for the Tamagotchi Smart, about 57 euros.
