„If the ruling option stutters, for example, about changing the law on referenda or changing the electoral system, then I am ready to cooperate with everyone, regardless of who will rule. I am not talking about joining a given party, but about cooperation, ”says Paweł Szramka, member of the Koalicja Polska – PSL-Kukiz’15 club, in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal.

wPolityce.pl: Marek Sawicki, the deputy head of the Polish Coalition club, once again spoke on the vote on the PiS resolution on negotiations with the EU. Marek Sawicki expects a clear declaration from Paweł Kukiz, whether he is closer to Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz or Zbigniew Ziobro. You voted on this resolution similarly to the leader of Kukiz’15. What is your answer to this question?
Paweł Szramka: I have the impression that Mr. Sawicki does not understand a bit why we voted the way and not otherwise on the PiS resolution. We did not consider this resolution at all in the sense that PiS had proposed it, but we just wanted the representatives of Poland who negotiate in the EU to have the tools needed for these negotiations. If we ourselves, as the Sejm, deprive our representatives of these tools, we will not have a strong voice in the EU. If PiS had not been in power, but another party, we would have voted the same.
Due to the situation after the vote on this resolution, are you considering leaving the KP club?
We, as part of the Polish Coalition, agreed on several demands. I understand that this agreement is still in force – we agreed to some of the PSL’s demands, and the PSL to ours. I see unity in these activities. However, when it comes to a situation that one coalition entity wants to vote differently than another, we cannot order the coalition partner to change his mind. This is what democracy and the rule of law are for, because a deputy has a free mandate. If he thinks that he should vote in a certain way, then he cannot be murdered by someone else to do otherwise.
According to PAP, PiS politicians are in talks with some members of the Polish Coalition on a possible transfer to PiS. Some negotiator from PiS came to you?
Nobody talks to me about it and I am also not looking for interlocutors on this matter.
What if such an interlocutor came to you?
If that were the case, I would say that we have been in the Sejm for 5 years and we are announcing the same postulates. If the ruling option stutters, for example, about changing the law on referenda or changing the electoral system, then I am ready to cooperate with everyone, regardless of who will rule. I am not talking about joining a given party, but about cooperation. You don’t have to enter a party or club right away to cooperate.
Hypothetically assuming that PiS would accept some of the Kukiz’15 postulates – would you consider joining the PiS club, or are you excluding such an option at all?
I can see how the PiS club works and it is not a model that would suit me, so at the moment I would definitely not want to change the club. In general, any talks on this matter could begin only if PiS met our demands.
