“Talking too much about the past”

Manchester United is in a crisis period after the team’s weak start to the season. The loss against Watford (1-4) this weekend led to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær being forced to leave. That means another manager who failed to bring United back to the top after Sir Alex Ferguson’s era when the club almost subscribed to big titles.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic played for United between 2016 and 2018, but only had a brief season in full condition before the serious knee injury in April 2017. However, the Swede was involved and won two titles (the League Cup and Europa League) during his first season at Old Trafford.

As for today’s Manchester United, Zlatan thinks that the club is too stuck in what has already been.

– They talk too much about the past. When I moved there, I said, “I’m here to focus on the present and write my own story.” But when you have too much (history) it becomes like a circle. You have to think about the present or you should go to a hospital and clear your head, says Ibrahimovic.

The Premier League is considered by many to be the world’s best league, but Zlatan does not share that image entirely.

– The quality is overestimated at the technical level. But the Premier League has different qualities – the speed, the rhythm. You may be the best player in the world, but if you can not handle that speed and rhythm, you will not succeed.

In January 2020, Ibrahimovic returned to Milan, where he currently has a contract until next summer. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the parties want to extend the agreement until the summer of 2023, which may also open up for us to see Zlatan in the WC 2022 if Sweden gets there.

In the play-off semi-final, however, Ibrahimovic is suspended after his yellow card in the match against Spain, when he handed out a printer in the back of Cesar Azpilicueta. The draw for the play-off play-off will be made on November 26 and will be broadcast on Fotbollskanalen.
