Studies show that talking on the cell phone for half an hour a week can increase the risk of high blood pressure.
According to the Daily Mail’s report, a team from the Southern Medical University of China investigated whether there is a link between talking on a cell phone and the risk of high blood pressure.
Within the scope of the research, approximately 200 thousand adults in England were followed for 12 years. The study showed that those who used the phone for 30 minutes or more per week had a 12 percent higher risk of developing high blood pressure than those who spoke less.
It has been noted that the group with the highest risk of developing high blood pressure is those who regularly spend an hour a day talking on the phone. It was also found that those who spoke on the phone for more than six hours a week were 25 percent more likely to develop high blood pressure than those who spoke for less than five minutes.
The researchers noted that the link between cell phone use and high blood pressure may be related to the low levels of radio frequency energy emitted by the devices. It was reported that the number of years the participants used mobile phones and whether they used equipment such as headphones or speakers did not make a difference in the level of risk.
Experts warned that phone calls should be reduced in terms of heart health.
