Hope has not been lost. Although Panam Sports announced the decision to withdraw the headquarters of the Pan American Games to Barranquilla, Mayor Alex Char maintained that the national government is taking the necessary steps to resolve the debt with Panam Sports.
“I have received a direct message from President Gustavo Petro, who is communicating directly with the President of Chile (Gabriel Boric) to intercede and be able to solve this,” said the district president.
According to Char, a “impasse” which made it impossible to transfer the 4 million dollars on December 30, as contemplated in the agreement reached in October of the previous year.
“The resources are there, there was an impasse in the Public Treasury, because 4 million dollars should have been transferred and it was not done. A procedure, I don’t know, needless to say strange, but it didn’t happen when I already had the presidential order. So the money is already there today, it is complete,” said.
In turn, the president of the Barranquilleros stressed that with the cancellation of the Pan American Games, the great “defeated” It is Colombian sport.
