Talk about his own death in unknown audio recordings – VG

In January 2020, Nerid Høiness (30) from Bærum was found dead in Laos. Two months ago, she had told a friend of hers about her fear of being killed.

– I have to spare you the details, but in a short time he realized all my worst nightmares.

This is what Nerid said while recording in 2019, which you can hear in the latest episode of the podcast about her. Then she sent it to a friend on Messenger.

In the audio recordings, Nerid is heard describing his relationship with the man who was later accused of his murder: Hiroyuki “Hiro” Ogu.

Hiro explained to the police in Laos, but the content of the explanation is not known. It is not even known when there will be a possible court case.

DREAM MAN: In front of family and friends, Nerid praised her eight-year-old Japanese boyfriend.

In August 2019, Nerid Høiness traveled to the island of Koh Phangan in Thailand to work as an assistant teacher at a yoga school, but that job never materialized. VG previously told the story of how the Bærum woman changed she had been alive for the past few weeks.

Trauma treatment

In the audio recordings, which together last a little under half an hour, Nerid says he met his Japanese boyfriend at a club on Koh Phangan. That evening she went home with him, and from the first meeting the two were inseparable, she tells her.

– We’ve spent every single minute of the day together since we met nine weeks ago, Nerid says in one of the audio messages.

CHANGED STYLE: Nerid Høiness started wearing a neck bell after meeting her Japanese boyfriend on Koh Phangan in fall 2019.

Furthermore, Nerid says that Hiro was at a higher level in yoga than he had ever seen, and that he became his “teacher”.

Hiro was a “brain doctor” and could fix it, he is said to have told Nerid.

– Apparently I was so hurt that he could not help but take responsibility for humanity by trying to fix me. Accidentally.

In the podcast series “What Happened to Nerid?” you can listen to previously unknown audio recordings.

Nerid says that Hiro should have healed her from past traumas, reliving them:

– The first six weeks consisted of exposing myself to worse traumas, corresponding to traumas I had already had in the past. Which then convinced me that I would die every single day, for three, four, five, six weeks.

Nerid doesn’t say what the trauma will be.

– And when I tried to resist the lesson he tried to teach me, he just repeated the experiment in a slightly harder, slightly more violent way on the next occasion, he says in the audio recording.

ALMOST NOBODY KNEW: Very few have heard the audio messages Nerid recorded in 2019. Her mother, Ellen Høiness, first heard them in May of this year.

Speaking of his own death

In the audio messages, Nerid is heard saying that he does not dare to leave the island of Koh Phangan. She describes that she is afraid of what will happen if she doesn’t stay.

– If I don’t keep staying with him and giving him money all the time, then he’ll either kill me or tear me apart and send me to the jungle.

This is what Nerid said less than eight weeks before she was found murdered in the Lao jungle.

When VG accessed the audio messages, we listened to them for Nerid’s mother, Ellen Høiness (62).

– She knew in a way that she would die from it, says her mother.

INJURED: Ellen Høiness has a receipt showing her daughter was hospitalized in Thailand in November 2019.

Høiness believes what her daughter herself says is proof that Hiro has had full control over Nerid.

– She was trapped, her, says the mother.

Ellen sent the contents of Nerid’s audio messages to the Tønsberg police. But for now they are not part of the case against Hiro in Laos.

Høiness has already asked victims for compensation to replace the expenses to bring Nerid home in a coffin and for return.

She was turned down in April of this year.

One of the requirements for receiving compensation for victims of violence is that it happened in Norway or that the injured party was living in Norway at the time of the criminal report.

The Compensation Office for Victims of Violence writes in denial to Ellen that they find no evidence that Nerid lived in Norway any longer, for as long as he seemed to have made a life for himself in Asia.

Ellen Høiness disagrees, as she believes Nerid was detained by the man accused of killing her.

VG failed to get in touch with Hiroyuki Ogu despite repeated attempts over several months. According to the people around him that VG has been in contact with, he has previously claimed to be innocent.

BEST FRIENDS: Nerid was Ellen’s only child and they have had very close contacts throughout their lives.
