– In the northernmost part of the country, the weather will be quite nice at the beginning of the week, ie the last days of May. It may also seem that the good weather lasts on the first day of the first summer month of June, says meteorologist on duty at the Meteorological Institute, Per Egil Haga.
He explains that there is a high pressure that seems to dominate the weather in the north in the next few days.
– The high pressure is now intensifying at the end of the weekend, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and maybe Thursday. So it looks like it will be nice and warm summer weather in the northernmost parts of the country, then first and foremost Troms and Finnmark in the next few days, says Haga.
Best weather in the country
And it is the inhabitants of Troms and Finnmark who will come out best in terms of weather in the next few days.
– At the beginning of the week it is about 20 degrees, some maybe a little above and some a little below. Then it will be summer days. We say it is a Nordic summer day if the temperature is 20 degrees or more. It looks like we will get in Troms and Finnmark in the next few days.
– Will it be so hot that you can swim?
– There is probably a slightly different opinion, I think. Some hardhouses throw themselves out even though the sea temperature is not very high, while others like to have around 20 degrees in the water, and it will not be, neither in the north nor in the south. But it may be that some find it refreshing, so in that sense it will be possible to swim, but maybe not for everyone, laughs Haga.
– It’s cool in the sea yet. It takes a long time before the sea warms up. It will probably be quite cold all over the country, he adds.
More varied in the rest of the country
In the rest of the country, the weather is becoming more variable, the meteorologist explains.
– For Nordland, it does not look so completely black, but it will not be as nice as further north. But they also get nice temperatures in many places, with temperatures up to 15 degrees. It also looks like there may be some sun, but also some rain, especially in the inner areas of Nordland, says Haga.
–More unstable in the south
There is a low pressure in the south of the country which later in the week will affect the temperatures in the north, while it will affect the weather in the south all week.
– The first days of June in southern Norway will be more erratic weather with periods of sunshine, but there will also be elements of clouds and good opportunities for some rain showers both in Eastern Norway, Western Norway and in Trøndelag, says the meteorologist
– Despite the clouds and buildings, it seems that we will get up to 20 degrees in Eastern Norway. Slightly lower temperatures will be in Trøndelag and in Western Norway with temperatures of 15 degrees, says Haga.
Does not last forever
But if you want to enjoy the fine weather in the north, you have to be fast. Next weekend it will probably be over. The meteorologist on duty at the Meteorological Institute, Per Egil Haga, explains that at the end of next week there will be a low pressure from the south, which means that the temperature is halved again.
– Nothing lasts forever. When we get to the first weekend in June, the high pressure weakens which is replaced by low pressure that comes up from the south, so then it is the end of the best weather then there will be some gray weather and rain and there will be falling temperatures again.
– In Troms and Finnmark, there will probably be a marked drop in temperature of around ten degrees. So then we are down to ten degrees again, says Haga.
