On October 9 and 10, a first session of negotiations between Washington and the Taliban took place, already in Doha, where the US diplomats in charge of Afghanistan currently live and work after their withdrawal from the country at the end of August.

On Tuesday, US diplomatic spokesman Ned Price confirmed the return of special representative for Afghanistan Tom West to Doha “for two weeks of meetings with the Taliban.”

Among the topics to be addressed are “the fight against terrorism, humanitarian aid, the economic situation of the country and the safe exit of Afghans and Americans” who have worked for Washington for the last twenty years, according to Price.
