With four hanged kidnappers
The final penalties will not be public
The Taliban have exposed the bodies of four kidnappers they killed in a public place in the western city of Herat, the BBC reported.
This comes just a day after the Islamist movement warned that they would renew sentences such as death sentences and amputations. The four men were killed in a shootout after abducting a businessman and his son, local sources said.
After gaining control of Afghanistan on August 15, the Taliban promised softer rule than before. But there are already numerous reports of human rights abuses in a number of parts of the country.
Earlier this week, the notorious head of the former religious mullah police, Noruddin Turabi, who now runs prisons in Afghanistan, announced that final sentences such as executions and amputations would be renewed, but not in public.
Meanwhile, many residents of the capital, Kabul, are complaining about difficult access to medicines and basic foodstuffs.
Food prices have risen since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan. There is a decline in the national currency, inflation and difficulties in withdrawing money from banks – no more than $ 200 a week.
