Taliban Plans to Form Martyrs Brigade Against Suicide Bombings

Taliban recently announced plans to form a suicide bombing battalion, the Brigades of the Shahid. That plan as part of the strength of the national army Afghanistan which is functional to combat suicide bombers.

“(The troops) will be under the control of the Ministry of Defense and will be used for special operations,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid was quoted as saying. The Conversation, last week.

Suicide and martyrdom missions have long been associated with terrorist activity. Before the Taliban succeeded in taking over Afghanistan in August 2021, they used suicide bombers to target the United States, Britain and the Afghan national army.

The two dominant forms of violence are victim-activated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and suicide bombings in populated areas.

Many of the attacks that take place in Afghanistan are carried out by children. They are judged to be easily exposed to radical ideas such as brainwashing for the ultimate goal and becoming “martyrs”.

Expectations of rewards in the afterlife and promises of paradise like these are involved in radicalization. Thus, it can be used in the recruitment of the Afghan martyrs brigade.

In the 21st century, suicide bombings in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq have become commonplace. This incident is often used as a tool for several terrorist organizations to attack targets.
