Taliban offensive in Afghanistan urged to end UN Secretary General

UN Secretary General António Guterres called on the militants of the radical Taliban movement to immediately end the attack on Kabul. Guterres said the situation in Afghanistan is spiraling out of control.

“The situation in Afghanistan is spiraling out of control. In the last month alone, more than 1,000 people have been killed or injured as a result of attacks on civilians,” he said.

Guterres said that the violent seizure of power by the Taliban would lead to the complete international isolation of Afghanistan and to a civil war in this Middle Eastern country.

The UN Secretary General also expressed his deep concern about the information about human rights violations in the territories that have come under the control of the Taliban in Afghanistan.
