Taliban in power, hundreds of Afghan refugees want to go home

Jakarta

When many people leave in droves Afghanistan, about 200 Afghan refugees in Pakistan want to return to their homeland.

As reported by the news agency AFP, Wednesday (25/8/2021), worried about the return of a period of hard rule after the takeover by Taliban following the withdrawal of United States troops, thousands of people tried desperately to escape from Afghanistan. Portraits of chaos have emerged from Kabul airport.

However, a number of families Afghan refugees want to return to their homeland, saying Taliban would bring stability to the war-torn country.

“We immigrated from Afghanistan during the bombing and hardship, when Muslims were in trouble, now, Alhamdulillah, the situation is normal, so we want to return to Afghanistan,” Molavi Shaib told AFP while waiting at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

In the border mountains that separate Spin Boldak, Afghanistan from Chaman in southwest Pakistan, thousands of people cross the trade route every day.

As many people try to escape Taliban rule, Pakistan has stepped up security at the border, making the process more stringent.

“People want to go back but they are not allowed to cross, we ask the Pakistani government to allow us to cross the border because there is no war, and peace has been established,” Muhammad Nabi said.
