Taliban denies execution of 22 Afghan special forces despite video

ACCEPTANCE – Group Taliban denied having executed 22 special forces personnel Afghanistan in the city of Dawlat Abad, Faryab Province. Despite video evidence, the group says the execution allegations are fictitious.

“The report comes from a fake scene combined with other footage in which 22 commandos were killed in clashes while carrying out operations in Faryab province,” the Taliban group said on Twitter, accusing it of CNN—Who had posted the video — had falsified the video evidence.

Previously it was reported that videos of brutal gunfire executions in Afghanistan had been widely circulated. The video is clear but unstable.

“Surrender, commando, surrender,” says a voice at the beginning of the video as several men emerge from a building; where they are clearly unarmed.

The video shows 22 special forces personnel named Afghanistan Command being executed by shooting. Shouts of takbir “Allahu Akhbar” were heard in the middle of the execution.

According to witness reports and the Afghan military, the victims were members of an Afghan Special Forces unit. While their executioner is the Taliban.

The brief execution took place on June 16 in the town of Dawlat Abad in Faryab province, near Afghanistan’s border with Turkmenistan.

CNN has obtained and verified several videos of the incident and has spoken to witnesses.
