Taliban Claims Killed Former ISIS-K Leader, Mastermind Behind Kabul Bombing, Executed in Prison

TRIBUNNEWS.COM – Taliban claiming to have killed the former leader ISIS-K who was also the mastermind behind the bombing of Kabul on August 26, 2021, Abu Omar Khorasani or known as Mawlawi Ziya ul-Haq.

The hardline Islamist group said it had executed Khorasani in Pul-e-Charkhi prison in the capital Kabul.

Reported The Wall Street Journal quoted The Sun, reported that Khorasani was shot dead along with eight other lieutenants.

However, there are other reports that he was released along with thousands of others as chaos swept Afghanistan when Taliban take over the country,

Khorasani was captured by US and Afghan forces in a house outside the Kabul region in May 2020.

He felt confident they would set him free.

“They would have released me if they were good Muslims,” ​​he said at the time.
