Kabul> Taliban burn musical instruments in Afghanistan. The violence was blamed on music causing “moral degradation”. Thousands of instruments, including guitars, harmoniums and tablas, were set on fire in the western province of Herat on Saturday.
Since taking power in 2021, the Taliban has imposed a number of restrictions, including banning music in public places. Drums, amplifiers, speakers etc. were seized from wedding venues in the city. Many musicians left Afghanistan after the Taliban regained power. Last week, the Taliban shut down beauty salons across the country.
