An open-air banquet in honor of the victory over the Americans and Afghanistan’s independence was organized by senior Taliban leaders, including the group’s spokesman, Zabihula Mujahid. This was reported by Euronews, whose correspondent, along with several other journalists, were admitted to the territory of Kabul airport.

Before finally withdrawing from Afghanistan, the U.S. military disabled helicopters, armored vehicles and a missile defense system at the airport in the troubled capital so that the Taliban could not use the equipment. Footage taken by a Euronews correspondent shows that the Taliban are occupying food and belongings abandoned by the last evacuated Americans in various rooms at the airport, and there is chaos everywhere.

The airport was taken over by members of the Badri 313 special elite unit, the so-called Taliban special forces, which use American weapons.

At the same time, the terrorist network Al Qaeda congratulated the Taliban for the “historic victory” against the United States, which evacuated its last soldiers from Afghanistan, DPA reported.

“We congratulate you on this great victory against the Crusades,” al Qaeda said in a statement to the Taliban.

In a statement issued by the extremist group’s “high command” published yesterday by its Al Sahab media, they personally congratulated Taliban leader Haibatullah Ahundzada.

The Taliban captured Kabul last month, before the withdrawal of US troops was complete.

Al Qaeda said the Taliban’s victory was a “prelude to the liberation of Palestine” and would lead to the liberation of other regions such as the Levant, Somalia, Yemen, Kashmir and other Islamic lands.

The group also called on the people of Afghanistan to unite around the Taliban and adhere to their decisions.

The United States expelled the Taliban from Kabul in 2001 because they were hiding al Qaeda members involved in planning and preparing for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

In an agreement Washington reached with the Taliban in February last year, the government of former US President Donald Trump promised to withdraw all US forces from Afghanistan, and the Taliban promised to sever ties with al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations and launch an internal Afghan peace talks.

Al Qaeda was founded in the late 1980s in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region. Initially, the group focused on the fight against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, but later expanded the territorial scope of its activities, announcing that it was fighting for the victory of Islamism worldwide.
