Jakarta –
In the matter of aqidah dah syariah among Afghan scholars who are affiliated to the Taliban is actually the same as Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). Both adhere to the teachings of Islam Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (Aswaja), adhere to Al-Asy’ari and Maturidi. In terms of NU fiqh, the majority of Syafi’iyah and they are more inclined to Imam Hanafi, as well as his sect, both have the Naqsyabandiyah sect.
“It’s just the way the struggle movement is not the same. If NU is moderate, they are hard and radical. But the basis for this tough attitude is not because of the Hanafi school because Hanafi is rational, not hard. The radical and harsh attitude is more because of character and maybe culture. That’s Wahhabi influence with the reason for purifying and upholding Islamic teachings,” said PBNU General Chair Prof DR KH Said Aqil Siroj while talking to the Outspoken team detik.com, Sunday (5/9/2021).
Because it turns out that there are many similarities, since 2010, NU has tried to make communication contacts with them. On the initiative of PBNU Deputy Chairman M As’ad Ali who is also the former Head of BIN, seven cleric factions in Afghanistan, including those from the Taliban, met and discussed for the first time at the Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta. The meeting then continued in Kabul, Afghanistan. From the meeting in Kabul, said Kiai Said Aqil Siroj, NU is willing to accept 34 Afghan students to study at Islamic boarding schools and Wahid Hasyim University.
“But I was only able to attend directly to meet them in Turkey in 2014. At that time, PBNU collaborated with Egypt’s al-Azhar. I had a heated debate with a Taliban cleric regarding respect for women’s rights. But he used Afghan language angrily, so I don’t understand ha-ha-ha,” said Kiai Said Aqil Siroj.
On July 30, 2019, he and PBNU administrators received 11 Taliban figures who were the main guests of Jusuf Kalla. In the meeting for more than an hour, he explained the outline of the struggle for the establishment of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, which is neither a religious state nor a secular state. On the other hand, the Taliban leaders led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar at the meeting expressed their enthusiasm to fight the United States.
In addition to revealing NU’s relationship with the Taliban, Kiai Said Aqil Siroj also revealed the history of the formation of the Ahmadiyah group, including the beginning of their entry into Indonesia. Although the aqidah is clearly different, the Ahmadiyya citizens must still be treated well. “We promote a soft dialogue, not with violence, let alone destroying and burning the mosque,” regretted Kiai Said Aqil Siroj.
Regarding the issue of amendments to the Constitution, he also revealed that NU scholars had recommended that the election of the President and regional heads be returned to the MPR and DPRD. What’s the argument? Check out the full details of the following blasphemy.
