In the second half, however, we did not build on our good defense from the first half and the opponent scored more goals than I would have imagined. I am happy for Dominik Solák, who started for the first time after being injured in the final match with Pilsen. He’s slowly getting into game shape.”
Michal Zbíral, coach of HBC JVP Strakonice 1921: “I think it was a cruel result but it probably reflects where the teams are and how they are doing. I’m glad we fought until the end and didn’t give up. There were some stupid mistakes, but we have to get away from this. We knew that such matches could come and we have to prepare well for important matches for us. Unfortunately, it’s just the start of the season here for the second time, it’s extremely difficult for us. We have a lot of mistakes and inconsistencies there. We just have to keep going.”

What the result means: Brno handball players can play against Hranice. They managed to win their third match in a row. Cement last beat Brno in the spring of 2022.
Post-match interviews:
Pavel Hladík, coach of SKKP Handball Brno: “A quality match, the opening tested us a lot. We certainly didn’t start the way we wanted. I am very dissatisfied with this. On the other hand, I’m glad we didn’t lose our heads and panic. We managed to turn it around by halftime. In the second half, we already played the way I would have imagined. We were dominant, I’m glad that all the players who came to the pitch managed it today. A few of them showed up, especially the youngsters. I would like to thank the audience today, 600 fans came to the first round, I am really happy about that. We can’t wait for the European premiere on Wednesday.”
Daniel Mahušek, SKKP Handball Brno clutch: “We entered the first fifteen minutes very badly, lukewarm. We can’t afford that. Fortunately, we raised our performance from the fifteenth minute, which we escalated, and it ended up being an eleven-goal victory. Thanks to the fans, you’ve been great. Come on Wednesday too, we’ll need you!”
Radim Brož, coach of TJ Cement Hranice: “First of all, I congratulate the home team on the victory. Today’s match showed us that playing only fifteen minutes is not enough. We entered the match very well, for the first quarter of an hour we played exactly what we want to present ourselves with. But then we don’t give two or three chances and break unnecessarily. We have to watch the video and learn from it for the next matches. The second half showed that Brno is a quality team, they started pushing forward more. We have come back with the opponent, but the action does not end there, there must be an interruption or an end to the quick attack, not to score a goal. These are things we will work on. We have to push ourselves from the first fifteen minutes.”
Jiří Tabara, goalkeeper of TJ Cement Hranice: “For me, exactly as our coach said. Unfortunately, the first fifteen minutes are not enough, we were tested a lot by Brno’s fast attack, when we were unable to stop them. After that, we were already accumulating a goal deficit and unfortunately we couldn’t pull it back.”
