The Minister of Public Health, Population and Social Affairs, Mr. Idi Illiassou Mainassara, met on Friday May 21 at his office with a French delegation led by the French Ambassador to Niger, HE Alexandre Garcia. The French mission, whose length of stay has not been communicated, is in Niger as part of an integrated supervision of French cooperation in the health sector, in particular the implementation of projects resulting from this cooperation.
The debriefing of the integrated supervision mission of French cooperation in Niger gathered around the table the Minister in charge of Public Health surrounded by his main collaborators, and the Ambassador who is at the head of a delegation made up of AFD, Expertise France and other French structures operating in Niger in the health sector. The aim of this mission in Niger is to take stock of French cooperation in the field of health, in particular with regard to projects for the implementation of this cooperation.
“On behalf of the government of Niger, I would like to thank all the actors who are involved in the various mechanisms for implementing the health development plan in which AFD plays a very important role. I want to thank this team and encourage it. The Ministry of Public Health is really available to support all these initiatives which contribute to improving the health of our populations, ”said the Minister of Public Health. Mr. Idi Illiassou Mainassara expects the end of this mission to be sanctioned by more cooperation between his ministry and France.
For his part, the French Ambassador to Niger underlined the importance and the quality of the mission. He also recalled that France intervenes in the country through the multilateral channel and that of the financing of projects of the French Development Agency and a significant contribution to the common health fund. “I can assure you, Minister, that France will remain by your side in the health sector to support Niger on this subject which is so important for the country, and for our two countries in general”, declared HE Alexandre Garcia, French Ambassador to Niger.
