Taking into account the recommendations to work remotely, the parliament will resume work in the e-Saeima

Taking into account the recommendations of epidemiologists to work remotely as much as possible, the parliament will resume work on the e-Saeima platform on Thursday, October 1, the Secretary of the Saeima Andrejs Klementejs (S) told LETA.

Today, the Saeima Presidium agreed that the next sitting of the parliament will take place partly remotely, with the factions working in separate premises, as happened during the emergency situation.

The Presidium has also decided to ask the Ministry of Health and the Center for Disease Prevention and Control to recommend to the parliament how to work in the future in the current Covid-19 conditions.

Klementjevs said that it was planned that journalists would be able to come to Jēkaba Street 11, but would not be able to be in the Saeima Chamber, where two parliamentary factions would work.

The Saeima convened in early September for the first sitting in person after a long break due to the restrictions of Covid-19.

As reported, the possibility of ensuring the work of the government in person is not being considered at the moment, the director of the State Chancellery Jānis Muudkovskis told LETA.

He acknowledged that the idea that ministers could meet in person at government meetings, but that the invited persons would participate remotely, had been considered in advance. However, taking into account the increase in the incidence of Covid-19 in Latvia, the possibility of providing meetings of the Cabinet of Ministers in person is not currently being considered.
