A bold role could cost the actress a career.
Viewers know Natalya Andreichenko from “Mary Poppins, Goodbye”, “Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District” and other famous tapes. The artist was applauded by the audience of the USSR and other countries, but few knew what a bold step the artist decided at the very beginning of her career.
So, at the age of 23, Andreichenko accepted the invitation of Andrei Konchalovsky to star in his “Siberiade”. In the tape, she reincarnated as Anastasia Solomina and in one of the scenes she appeared naked in front of the audience.
The frank scene shocked the Soviet public. Many viewers were sure that a daring step would put an end to Andreichenko’s career. After all, censorship was very strict about the naked body on the screens, and not all artists decided on this.
However, the film was highly acclaimed by international critics and even won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. Andreychenko, on the other hand, became a world star, whose game was applauded by the whole world.
