Takeda (Lessines) workers donate plasma to lift thousands of sick people from “perpetual confinement”

The Takeda Company and the Red Cross are working hand in hand to raise awareness about donating plasma.

Each year, the Takeda company processes nearly nine million liters of plasma. A figure which may seem enormous, but which is not yet sufficient to meet the needs. “We split it into immunoglobulin, an essential substance for patients with immune deficiencies”, underlines Geoffrey Pot, manager of the Takeda lessinois site. “To treat a single patient for a year, no less than 100 donations are needed. It is our duty as a large company to do what is in our power to promote solidarity. This is why we have put in place “Care days.” Days when our 1,200 employees can take positive action for the company. A good way to promote team building by working together outside the office. “

And the plasma donation campaign fits perfectly into this framework. “Our company uses plasma as a raw material and, given the importance of the drugs that we withdraw, it seemed perfectly logical to contact the Red Cross to set up a donation campaign for our employees.”
