Former Chinese takeaway owner Hoi Ping Yung (50) was recently released from prison in the Midlands after serving time for the rape of a woman during a visit to Ireland in 2013. Yung had arrived in Dublin with a friend and they spent the day drinking in various pubs before checking into a hotel when they missed the last bus home. While the victim slept in a single bed, Yung crawled into bed with her twice and rubbed her arm and leg. The third time he raped her, prompting her to report the crime. After a seven-year trial process, Yung was convicted last December at the Central Criminal Court. The victim spoke out about the victim shaming she experienced during the trial and how it has affected her mental and emotional health. Despite the gruelling process, she urges other victims of rape and sexual abuse to come forward and seek justice.
