Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita explained that there are 79 medical device products (alkes) that are a priority in the country. This means that the government, in this case the goods and service procurement official, is prohibited from importing the 79 types of medical devices.
“Some of these products already have a TKDN value (Domestic Component Level) above 40%, which means that domestic products must be purchased and imported products are prohibited from being purchased,” Agus said in a press conference entitled ‘Efforts to Increase the Use of Domestic Products (PDN) Medical Devices’ field virtually, Tuesday (15/6/2021).
Of the total 79 types of medical devices, not all of them have a TKDN value. However, Agus has set a target to increase the number of domestic products that meet the TKDN target.
To note, TKDN is the amount of the domestic component of goods, services and a combination of goods and services expressed in percentages.
“We at the Ministry of Industry from 2021 have begun to budget for free TKDN facilitation, which we will target for 9,000 new products and can be utilized by producers,” he said.
As it is known, from 40,243 items (imported medical devices in the e-catalog), there are 5,462 (79 types of medical devices) that already have domestic products, so that what the government is allowed to buy is medical devices that have been produced domestically. Throughout this year, officials for the procurement of goods and services are targeted to absorb the domestic medical devices, the value of which is around Rp. 6.5 trillion.
The following is a list of 79 types of medical devices that cannot be imported:
