Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has permitted the Mandiri vaccination program or vaccine injections that companies carry out for their employees. So what Covid-19 vaccine will be used?
Head of the Food and Drug Administration, Penny K Lukito, said there were four types of Covid-19 vaccines that would be used in the mutual cooperation vaccination program. There were vaccines for Sinopharm (China), Moderna and Novavax (United States), and Sputnik V (Russia).
Penny explained, the progress of each vaccine that will be used in the first independent or mutual cooperation program is Sinopharm, which is currently still waiting for the exact data and schedule that has been discussed by the government.
“We are waiting for some data which is still in the process of quality data. Some of the completeness of the efficacy aspect data,” he explained at the DPR RI Commission IX Hearing Meeting, Monday (15/3/2021).
Penny continued, the Sputnik vaccine from Russia has received a registration process from the producing company. However, the process is still being discussed with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of BUMN regarding the certainty of using the Sputnik vaccine.
“The task of BPOM is to ensure quality safety, it does not mean that the results of the BPOM assessment will be purchased, there will be a process again from the Ministry of Health or the Ministry of BUMN, whether independent vaccines will be used or not, but Sputnik is already in talks,” added Penny.
Currently, a bridging study is still needed for Novavax because the production coming to Indonesia is from India. Approval from the Indian FDA this May and June.
The last vaccine that will be used is Moderna from America. Penny said, the development of this vaccine had received conditions of approval from the US and UK FDA.
Currently, BPOM is finalizing an MoU with Indonesian vaccine company PT Bio Farma to carry out joint production of mutual cooperation vaccines.
