Telkomsel revealed that there will be 15 first locations in Indonesia that will get service 5G. Where are they located?
Currently, Telkomsel has become mobile operator first in Indonesia to carry out the Operation Eligibility Test (ULO) 5G. After being declared passed, Telkomsel can roll out 5G services commercially to its users.
Minister of Communication and Informatics (Menkominfo) Johnny G Plate said Telkomsel deploying this 5G service utilizing the 2.3 GHz radio frequency band for the data plane and the 1,800 MHz radio frequency band for the control plane.
“When the whole process of ULO technology 5G by Telkomsel, this has been completed and passed, Telkomsel at the initial stage plans to launch in six residential locations in Jakarta, namely Kelapa Gading, Pondok Indah, Pondok Indah Kapuk, BSD, Widya Chandra, and Alam Sutera, “said Johnny to detikINET, Wednesday. Apart from these six locations, people in nine other locations will also experience the first experience of trying the fast internet offered by 5G.
The nine locations in question are Medan, Batam, Bandung (two locations at Telkom University and ITB), Balikpapan, Solo, Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar and Denpasar.
“And, will follow in various cities and other priority locations,” said the Minister of Communication and Information.
Process ULO 5G conducted by Telkomsel together with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) lasts three days, 19-21 May 2021.
President Director of Telkomsel Setyanto Hantoro said that if it has been declared that it has passed the ULO stage, the performance is planned 5G Telkomsel will do it on a limited basis first, as was the case with 3G and 4G technology in the early stages.
“If the economies of scale are obtained, 5G will spread by itself. So it will be at a certain point first,” said Setyanto.
