Art is not something for adults. There are many children who still have fun drawing and painting in their free time and they will be the stars of the ‘Take it with art’ Christmas exhibition. Tomorrow the exhibition opens at the Muñoz Bar in Otegienea, at 6:00 p.m. “Art has no borders.”
For this special exhibition, Koki Hernández and Luis Manuel Ruiz have collected drawings from boys and girls from both Ordizia and the region. “Christmas belongs to the children,” emphasize the organizers of the initiative, who describe their artistic vein as “a gift they offer us. “Children give a lot out of nothing.” Maider Urretabizkaia students from the Lazkao and Ataun workshops have also participated, to whom they are grateful for their collaboration.
Each one has delivered the drawing they wanted. “It is free art” and they have tried to show all the art they have received. Thus, both in the bar area and in the dining room you can see the works of children from 5 to 12 years old, made on paper, on canvas, on watercolor paper… “They have used different materials,” they indicate.
The exhibition has provided extra motivation for the little ones, who have created their works almost expressly with all their enthusiasm. In this sense, they also wanted to instill in them that “art requires effort” and is a gift for everyone who visits the exhibition until January 16. “At the end of the day, art is nothing more than the complicity of the one who teaches and the one who watches.”
When one year has passed since the new phase of the exhibitions that were organized at the premises, Hernández and Ruiz show their satisfaction with the journey that the initiative has taken in recent months. Likewise, they thank all the artists who have passed by, as they have helped to make art known and value the work they do.
In the poster they wanted to convey one of the reasons for ‘Take it with art’: to give visibility to pure art. In the image you can see a baby, arranged with brushes and paints, in his mother’s womb. “Nine months is an eternity to spend doing nothing and she decided to paint everything she heard and then assumed,” can be read in the story that completes the exhibition.
In all the exhibitions they have written a personalized text for each artist, which they place next to the poster in the bar and in this case it is a declaration of intentions from two artists with a project that has crossed borders, is taking root in Ciudad Real and Puerto de Santa María and already has the almost complete agenda for 2024. «Surely there will not be a purer work than the one that is born before being born. Art in its purest form that becomes diluted over the years outside the mother’s womb. Children are the best teachers when it comes to essence. When your adult gaze becomes analytical, The Art of Childhood is lost.
