Curiosity captures the landscape of hills and rocks on the planet Mars, with detailed rock surface textures that are clearly visible.
Mars famous for being a dry and rocky planet, and two new photos from the rover NASA Curiosity proves that truth. Curiosity has been exploring Mars since 2012 and has uncovered many secrets since then. The rover has previously found evidence of ancient fluids, detected organic carbon in the planet’s rocks, and captured hundreds of thousands of photos along the way.
In its latest batch of images sent on December 7, Curiosity captures the landscape of the planet’s hills and rocks. The first photo shows a wide view, which includes dunes and a view of the Martian sky that tends to be dark.
Not only does it show the image broadly, Curiosity also captures a lot of fine details, such as rough textures, lines on it, and various colors of rock even though the photo only appears in black and white.
The second image shows the same rock formation but from a closer angle. Thus, the details in the image are more clearly visible. It revealed countless lines on the entire surface of the rock. Possibly, this line is caused by winds or sandstorms that often occur on Mars. The rock formations may be millions of years old on Mars.
Regardless, the rocky landscape of Mars is not something most humans can see with their own eyes, but thanks to Curiosity, everyone can see how Mars is. Not only Curiosity, Perseverance rover younger than Curiosity is also looking for evidence of ancient life on the red planet.
