KOMPAS.com – magazine Forbes recently released a list of the 50 richest people in Indonesia from various categories.
Nearly 75 percent of the rich on this list experienced an increase in wealth of more than 19 percent. This figure contributes to the total assets of the 50 richest people in Indonesia more than 21 percent to US $ 162 billion from the previous US $ 133 billion last year.
From the list of the 50 richest people in Indonesia, there are 3 female names, namely Marina Budiman (1.5 billion US dollars), Arini Subianto (975 million US dollars), and Kartini Muljadi (685 million US dollars).

The richest Djarum boss in Indonesia
Boss Djarum, R Budi and Michael Hartono still listed his name as the richest person in Indonesia with a wealth of 42.6 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 612.8 trillion.
Most of their wealth came from shares of Bank Central Asia (BCA) which was bought from Anthoni Salim in 1997-1998 during the economic crisis.
The Hartono family’s wealth also comes from one of Indonesia’s leading electronics companies, Polytron and real estate in Jakarta.
In second place, the Widjaja family is the second richest person in Indonesia with a wealth of 9.7 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 139.5 trillion.
The Widjaja family inherited the business empire of Eka Tjipta Widjaja, who died in January.
Starting a business as a biscuit seller as a teenager, Eka Tjipta Widjaja’s business continues to grow.
The biggest company is Sinar Mas which is engaged in paper, real estate, financial services, health, agribusiness, and telecommunications.
Widjaja’s four eldest sons oversee the business empire he built, while the others build their own businesses.
Meanwhile, Anthoni Salim ranks third as the richest person in Indonesia.
Salim has a total wealth of 8.5 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp 122.9 trillion, most of which comes from Indofood (5.8 billion US dollars).
In addition, Anthoni Salim also leads the company Salim Group which is engaged in food, retail, banking, telecommunications, and energy.

- Prajogo Pangestu: 6.1 billion US dollars
- Chairul Tanjung: 5.5 billion US dollars
- Susilo Wonowidjojo: 4.8 billion US dollars
- Boenjamin Setiawan: 4.2 billion US dollars
- Jogi Hendra Atmadja 4.1 billion US dollars
- Bactiar Karim 3.5 billion US dollars
Among the list of the 50 richest people in Indonesia, the name Ciliandra Fangiono became the youngest conglomerate (level 24).
Ciliandra is CEO of First Resources, a Singapore-listed palm oil company with plantations in Indonesia.

The business was started by his father, Martias, more than two decades ago.
Prior to joining the family business, Ciliandra worked in the investment banking division of Merrill Lynch in Singapore.
He has a degree in economics and was awarded a PriceWaterhouse Book while at Cambridge University.
