The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, met today at Palazzo Chigi with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, Sheikh Salem Abdullah al-Jaber al-Sabah.
“Kuwait is a leading partner of Italy in the Middle East”, declared the deputy prime minister, “with whom we intend to strengthen bilateral relations in the political, economic-commercial, environmental, scientific and cultural fields”.
In this sense, the two Ministers signed a Memorandum on strategic dialogue, which aims to raise the level of relations between Rome and Al Kuwait, and an Executive Program for the years 2023-2025 of the cultural agreement to expand collaborations in the cultural field and scientific.
With reference to cooperation in the economic-commercial sector, Tajani recalled “the excellent level of trade, which increased by over 53% in 2022, which makes Italy the leading European exporter to Kuwait”. “We intend to further strengthen the presence of Italian companies in the country”, he continued, “by offering the best of the excellence of our production system in the sectors on which the Kuwaiti government is focusing with the New Kuwait 2035 plan”.
The two Ministers also attended the signing of a Memorandum between Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and the Kuwait Development Fund, an important tool that will allow Italy and Kuwait to develop development cooperation projects in third countries, also in implementation of the objectives UN for sustainable development.
On the occasion of the meeting at Palazzo Chigi, the Foreign Minister of Kuwait, together with Vice Premier Tajani, also had a brief meeting with the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.
