During his mission to Cairo, which took place today, the Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, continued contacts with Foreign Ministers of the Mediterranean area to discuss the situation in Israel .
Tajani met with the Moroccan Minister, Nasser Bourita, and the Algerian Minister, Ahmed Attaf.
The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated that “Italy condemns in the utmost firmness the ferocious aggression of Hamas and supports Israel’s right to defend itself from terrorist aggression”, adding that “we are engaged in an all-out diplomatic initiative to avoid an escalation of the conflict at the regional level”.
He invited his interlocutors to “work together so that the International Community can act unitedly in favor of peace” and to commit to the release of civilian hostages in the hands of terrorists, also through the creation of humanitarian corridors.
