Taiwan’s armed forces detected 28 PLA aircraft near the island this morning. This was said in a statement by the Taiwanese Ministry of Defense.
According to him, these include J-10, J-16 fighters, H-6 strategic bombers, KJ-500 early warning aircraft, Y-9 multi-purpose aircraft, Y-20 tanker aircraft, as well as CH-4 drones.
As noted in the department’s statement, 20 planes crossed the so-called middle line of the Taiwan Strait or have entered the island’s air defense identification zone.
Taiwan has been governed by its own administration since 1949, when the remnants of Kuomintang forces led by Chiang Kai-shek (1887-1975) fled there after defeat in the Chinese Civil War. Since then, the island has retained the flag and some other attributes of the former Republic of China that existed on the mainland before the Communists came to power. Beijing considers Taiwan one of the provinces of the People’s Republic of China.
