It is reported that employees of Wistron’s plant rioted due to wage issues. Employees said that the company did not pay them. The monthly salary of 21,000 rupees (about 2,200 Hong Kong dollars) promised when engineering graduates entered the job has been further reduced to 12,000 rupees in recent months; the monthly salary of non-engineering graduates is only 8,000 rupees. When employees discussed their salary on Friday night, someone claimed that the bank account received only 500 rupees for labor, which then turned into violent activity.

Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported that Wistron stated that this was a crime, not a strike. Wistron said that the local security in India is not good, the factory has become the target of criminals, and the rioters are outsiders rather than employees.

The report also quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that Wistron has entrusted five labor companies in the local area to help Wistron find and hire workers, and Wistron allocates funds to labor companies every month in accordance with the promised salary terms.

Some Indian Taiwanese businessmen pointed out that due to the Indian caste class, general Indian workers at the grassroots level would trust higher-caste employers or managers. Was the Wistron riot incident caused by a labor agency or an Indian executive with supernatural powers and outsiders, colluding with outsiders to try to obtain illegal Interests, deliberately inciting grassroots employees to riot, still need to be further clarified.
