[Reporter Dong Baiting/Taipei Report]Taiwanese independent curator Hsu You-Lun was selected to participate in the “Indonesian Curatorial Intensive Training (CI)” held in Indonesia at the end of February this year by the Independent Curators International (ICI). Together with 14 students from Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, India and the United States, they will conduct a 10-day intensive course in Yogyakarta and Bali, receiving courses from senior curators and one-to-one guidance. The trainees are all publicly selected internationally by the International Alliance of Independent Curators. This intensive curatorial training in Indonesia received 110 applications and selected 14 emerging curators from all over the world.
Hsu You-lun said that he is looking forward to interacting with other participants and organizers this time in more than a week of intensive activities. “The artistic and cultural resources and ecology of Southeast Asian countries are different. In the field of contemporary art, the support provided by Taiwan’s public sector Resources are relatively sufficient and friendly, and public resources also provide a lot of support and encouragement for creators’ freedom of creative expression. However, the collective strength of art communities in many Southeast Asian countries is active, and there are strong horizontal connections among art workers. Xu Youlun, who has been involved in the Southeast Asian regional art community in recent years, continues to participate in the planning of cross-disciplinary and multi-center collaborative art projects. She has planned and hosted the participatory project “Mobile Romance”, which invited Taiwan’s Southeast Asian migrant workers community as co-creation partners, and the “Asian Transnational Research and Exchange Project of Social Participation Groups”, which studied the collaboration of art groups, and In cooperation with the Thai art organization Prayoon for Art Foundation, the “TAI-International Art Action Series” was launched at the Loei Art Fes.
The International Alliance of Independent Curators (ICI), headquartered in New York, is an important international curator organization that connects international curators, artists and art spaces by organizing diverse activities such as exhibitions, publishing, research, and training. “Curatorial Intensive Training” is a brand activity of ICI.
