/ world today news/ Taiwanese businessmen and enterprises donated funds and humanitarian aid worth more than 40 million yuan to support the affected areas in Gansu Province, which were shaken by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake on December 18.
Chen Binghua, spokesman for the government’s Taiwan Affairs Office, expressed his gratitude for the help and concern. “This once again fully shows that the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are members of one family, and at no time can this family bond be broken,” he further commented.
As of now, the death toll from the earthquake is at least 149, with two still missing.
