At such times, Taiwanese representatives often choose to be patient and compromise. If there is no image of conflict, the media around the world will not be surprised.
But things have changed in recent years, Yaita said. There are more and more voices in support of Taiwan from all over the world and Taiwan is no longer forgiving. This time, Gao Manrong wanted to rise to power with the flag of the Republic of China. According to Chinese logic, pressure must be exerted to stop it, a prescribed action that China’s representatives have repeated countless times around the world for many years.
Akio Yaita said that although China was successful this time, it caused a stir and eventually the organizer had to apologize to Gao Manrong, which was probably unexpected on the Chinese side. In other words, China is increasingly struggling to crack down on Taiwan in the international community.
Akio Yaita stressed that the organizer of this event was Malaysia, which did not dare to offend China. If you switch to the United States, Europe or Japan, the results may be different. According to reports, when Gao Manrong went to Romania to participate in an international beauty pageant in 2019 and won the Best Media Award, the rear projection was the flag of the Republic of China. As Taiwan’s international status improved, world awareness of the Taiwan issue also deepened. At the same time, China’s unreasonable and barbaric repression of Taiwan has also aroused public anger and more and more media and governments want to defend justice for Taiwan.
