Taiwan Stocks Rise as Domestic-Overseas Confrontation Plays Out: Foreign Investors Oversell EVA Air, Taiwan Cement, and Wistron

(Central News Agency reporter Jiang Mingyan, Taipei, October 5, 2023) Taiwan stocks rose 180.14 points today, with the three major legal entities buying more than NT$38 million in total, showing a “domestic-foreign confrontation” in which self-operated traders and investors bought more, and foreign investors sold more. “Situation: Foreign investors oversold EVA Air, Taiwan Cement, and Wistron, but invested in Winbond, United Microelectronics and other stocks.

Taiwan stocks rose 180.14 points today to close at 16453.52 points, with a transaction value of 240.04 billion yuan.

The total purchases by the three major legal persons exceeded 38 million yuan, of which self-operators purchased more than 363 million yuan, investment trusts bought more than 948 million yuan, and foreign and mainland investors sold more than 1.273 billion yuan.

According to public statistics, foreign investors sold more than 20,000 Fuhua Real Estate shares today, ranking first; they sold 10,000 Evergreen Airways shares, ranking second, and TCC, Wistron, and Yuanta CSI 300 ranked second. From 3rd to 5th, Development Finance, Quanta, AUO, Shin Kong Gold, and Dynamic Investment Holdings also entered the top 10 foreign-invested overseller list.

In terms of over-buying, foreign investors bought more than 17,000 shares of Huabang Electric, ranking first, and bought more than 15,000 shares of United Microelectronics, ranking second. Others bought more than CITIC Financial, Silicon Systems, Acer, Mega Gold, Cathay Sustainability High Dividend, Taijinbao-DR, Fuhua Taiwan Technology Excellent Information, Datong; for investment trust, buy stocks such as Chaoyuan Dagao Dividend, Huatong, United Microelectronics, Chishen, Wistron and other stocks.
