The 2024 presidential election has officially come to an end. Today (15th) ushered in the first post-election trading day for Taiwan stocks. The market opened with an increase of 28.43 points to 17,541.26 points. Driven by the weight stock TSMC, it soon went straight to today’s highest level. It reached 17,632.77 points, breaking through the 17,600-point mark. However, it lost to the weak trend of AI stock Quanta (2382). In addition, the tourist group also plunged into decline, and the index fell into shock. At the end of the day, the market only rose slightly by 33.99 points, closing at 17,546.82 points. An increase of 0.19%, with a transaction volume of 285.932 billion yuan, failed to stand above 17,600 points.

The Taiwan stock market opened in the red at 17,541.26 points in the morning, an increase of 28.43 points. The index immediately jumped to today’s highest point of 17,632.77 points, a surge of 119.94 points. Not only did it stand at the 17,600 point mark, but the monthly line of approximately 17,640 points was also within easy reach. However, the trend of AI indicator stock Quanta (2382) was weak, dragging down the market together with tourism, oil and electricity and computer stocks, and the index fell instantly. Fortunately, TSMC (2330), Novatek (3034) and United Microelectronics (2303) worked hard to bring the market back up. The price fluctuated to a high level and the gains converged in late trading. At the end of the session, the market rose by 33.99 points, or 0.19%, to close at 17546.82 points.
As for power value stocks, the leading gainer today will be the powerful TSMC, which rose 0.34% to 586 yuan; UMC rose 1.40% to help; Delta Electronics (2308) rose 0.68%. The leading decliner was Quanta, which fell 1.95%; Formosa Plastics (6505) fell 1.01%, Hon Hai (2317) fell 0.50%, and MediaTek (2454) fell 0.43%.
Observing the trends of various stocks, since the election result was won by the Democratic Progressive Party camp, the heavy electronics, biotechnology, and aerospace groups of “green winning concept stocks” almost all rose. Among the “Four Heavy Electric Power Companies”, ZTE (1513) rose 0.83%, Huacheng (1519) rose 1.76%, Electronics (1503) rose 1.71%, and Yali (1514) rose 1.98%.
In the biotech sector, Lamex (1795) rose 4.96%, Bioray (6472) rose 4.05%, and Changsheng (6712) rose 2.07%; in the aerospace sector, Baoyi (8222) rose 0.20%, and Taiwan Shipbuilding (2208) rose 0.79%.
Most electrical machinery stocks also closed in the red today. Ende (1528) closed at the daily limit of 13.85 yuan. China Sarawak (1560) and Daodao (3167) both rose by more than 3%. Lay’s Green Energy (1529), Qinmei (1532), and Yongda Crown-KY (1589) and Dongtai (4526) rose more than 2%.
As for the tourist group, there was a bullish upsurge because the “ban on group travel to China” was to be lifted on March 1. Since the new president was won by the Democratic Progressive Party, which is not pro-China, whether the future interaction between the two countries will There will be changes. At present, China’s attitude is still unclear, causing the tourism stocks to be all green. Only Farglory (2712), Wangpin (2727) and Holliday (9943) rose, and the rest were green.
