Taiwan reminds the United States not to speculate, what’s wrong?

KONTAN.CO.ID – TAIPEI. Taiwan asked its representative office in Washington to remind the United States not to give rise to “unnecessary speculation or misunderstanding”.

That was after the White House removed a social media post about a COVID-19 vaccine donation that included the Taiwan flag.

The White House COVID-19 Response Team this weekposting on Twitter an image detailing U.S. vaccine donations globally, including the one made by Moderna that was shipped to Taiwan last month.

The upload shows the Taiwanese flag along with the flags of other countries getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen at that timeretweet and added: “Thank you to the US for your generosity. Together, we will defeat this pandemic”.

However, posting was later deleted on Wednesday (7/7).

The United States, like most countries, does not officially recognize the Taiwanese government, having only official relations with Beijing, which claims the island as Chinese territory under its “one China” policy.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Joanne Ou said her ministry had noted that: posting That US Twitter is gone.
