Taiwan Ministry of Economy Imposes Sanctions on Russian Machine Tool Supplier: Latest News

Taiwan’s Ministry of Economy has added the Russian machine tool supplier iMachine to the sanctions list. Sellers of high-tech goods were required to ensure that their supplies did not enter Russia through third countries. About it it says in a message on the department’s website.

The ministry has listed a list of countries from which goods are likely to be transported to Russia. It includes Türkiye, the UAE, and the countries of Central Asia. The first fine for violating the sanctions regime against Russia and Belarus has been increased 15 times, to one million US dollars.

The department noted that they responded in this way to press publications about the supply of machine tools from Taiwan to the Russian military industry. The publication quoted the story of an anonymous employee of the Taiwan Industrial Association, who visited an equipment exhibition in mainland China in 2023. The event was packed with Russian buyers willing to buy machines on the spot and in cash, the text said.
