Taiwan Meteorological Department: 6.5 magnitude earthquake speculated to be related to plate thrust

According to CCTV client news, a 6.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in Taitung County, Taiwan on September 17, and the tremor was felt throughout Taiwan. The director of the Taiwan Meteorological Department’s Earthquake Prediction Center said at a press conference that night that the earthquake was the second largest this year, second only to the one that occurred on March 23 this year. He also said that, according to the current situation, the earthquake is still related to the thrust of the plates, but the actual cause still needs further investigation.
